Victron SmartShunt 300A/50mV battery monitor

The SmartShunt 300a from Victron Energy (mpn shu050130050) is an all-in-one battery monitor without its own display - instead, it uses your smartphone or tablet as a display, which connects via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect app. This gives you access to important parameters such as the charge status, remaining operating time, historical data and much more at all times. You also have the option of connecting the SmartShunt to a GX device, such as a Cerbo-GXor the Color Control GXand read out information from it. The SmartShunt is an ideal alternative to the BMV battery monitor, especially for systems where battery monitoring is required but less cabling and clutter is preferred.

Why a battery monitor?

Batteries are used in a variety of applications, mostly to store energy for future use. However, the actual amount of energy stored cannot be read directly from the battery. Factors such as undercharging or overcharging, deep discharge, excessive charging or discharging currents and high ambient temperatures can shorten the service life of the battery. An advanced battery monitor enables these to be monitored and provides important feedback to you as the user. As a result, suitable measures can be taken if necessary to profitably extend the service life. The investment in the battery monitor therefore pays for itself quickly.

The VictronConnect app
