Are you concerned about your electricity costs? Invest in a photovoltaic system now and make yourself independent of your electricity provider! At Offgridtec you will find a wide range of solar cells, from monocrystalline PV cells to polycrystalline solar cells with battery - we have everything you want to generate your own green electricity.
How solar cells work
The way solar cells work is very simple: when sunlight hits the solar cell, the electrons in the cell are excited so that they move. Inside the cell, an interaction takes place between the incident sunlight and the doped semiconductor of the solar cell. This is how sunlight is converted into electrical energy.
Solar cells at a glance
You will find a wide range of solar cells in our shop. These include silicon solar cells, perovskite solar cells and even mini solar cells.
Silicon solar cell
Silicon is the most widely used technology for photovoltaics (PV). By using thin layers of silicon on the back of the silicon solar cell, both passivation and electrical conductivity are improved, increasing cell efficiency and power generation.
Perovskite solar cell
Perovskite solar cells are characterised by remarkable absorption of light and excellent current conduction. They are both inexpensive and easy to manufacture and process. However, they do not yet work consistently enough to be used on a large scale.
Mini solar cell
Mini solar cells are especially helpful if you have limited space, such as on the balcony. They can be set up quickly and easily and generate enough electricity to relieve your electricity costs. This way you can not only save money in the long run, but also do something for the environment.

FAQ
- What is a solar cell? A solar cell is an electrical component that uses sunlight to generate electricity. This is done by converting sunlight directly into electrical energy.
- How does a solar cell work? When sunlight hits the solar cell, the electrons in the cell are excited and begin to move. Inside the cell, the incident sunlight interacts with the doped semiconductor and leads to a reaction.
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of solar cells? Solar cells are a great way to reduce your electricity costs and protect you from rising electricity prices. They also last a long time. A modern solar panel is expected to reliably generate solar energy for more than 25 years. The biggest disadvantage is a high initial investment. In the long run, however, the costs pay off and make you more independent of your electricity provider.
- Do solar cells also work when the sky is cloudy? Solar modules not only use direct sunlight, but also diffuse radiation that passes through clouds or fog. The brighter it is, the more power the modules produce; the intensity of the light is irrelevant.
