Charging Current Distributor
Optimise your battery charging system with Victron Energy's high-quality charging current distributor. With its advanced technology, a Victron charging current distributor can distribute the charging current evenly and efficiently to several battery groups without any voltage losses. At Offgridtec you will find the perfect charging current distributor for your energy needs.
3 ways to charge several batteries at the same time
To prevent batteries connected together from discharging each other, three different parts can be used:
- Isolating diodes: These are semiconductor elements that regulate the current so that it can only flow in one direction. In this way, simultaneous charging is made possible, but mutual discharging is prevented. However, about 0.7V is lost when they are used, which is why the battery can never be fully charged.
- Isolating relay: This is the further development of the isolating diode - an electromagnetic switch that mechanically separates the batteries from each other, which results in no voltage loss. However, the simple cut-off relay mostly requires a pulse, usually from the D+ alternator.
- Charging current distributors: Distribute the charging current optimally to several batteries without coupling them to each other. In addition, this is the most effective way of preventing other batteries from discharging in the event of a more powerful consumer.
Victron charging current distributor for optimum charging of separate battery systems
To be able to charge independent battery systems as risk-free as possible, a charging current distributor from Victron Energy is best suited.

FAQ
- What is a charging current distributor? A charging current distributor bypasses the diode during charging, which prevents a voltage drop. This ensures that the battery receives the full charging voltage and the required current.
- What do I have to pay attention to when connecting two batteries together? When connecting several batteries together, always make sure that they have the same capacity and voltage. It is best if the batteries are also approximately the same age, so that their strength is roughly the same.
- What is an isolating diode? Isolating diodes allow batteries that are connected together to be charged at the same time. They prevent the batteries from discharging. However, a voltage loss of approx. 0.7V must be expected when using them. Nowadays, more effective devices such as charging current distributors are used for this purpose.
- What happens when two batteries are connected in parallel? When connected in parallel, the total capacity of the batteries (Ah) doubles, while the voltage (V) remains the same. When coupling, make sure to connect all positive terminals first and then all negative terminals.
