This balcony power plant from Offgridtec presents you with a powerful solution with a total output of 860W, allowing you to generate part of the electricity needed for your household. This can significantly reduce the costs of overall electricity consumption. The system consists of two high-quality black-frame solar modules from Luxen, each with a rated output of 430W and state-of-the-art technology. To enhance efficiency, a HMS-800W-2T microinverter module inverter from Hoymiles is included. The set also includes a 10m long Hoymiles connection cable with a field connector for easy installation.
How does a balcony power plant work?
The Offgridtec balcony power plant is a space-saving solar system consisting of a solar module and a matching Hoymiles microinverter to feed the generated electricity into the household electrical network. The inverter is ideally attached directly to the mounting structure of the solar module and connected using the solar connector at the module. The 10m connection cable is connected to the battery terminal of the inverter and led directly to the appropriate socket. No special settings are required to use the generated solar power within the household electricity network. When electricity from other sources in the house is available, it is used preferentially, and supplemented by grid power if necessary.
The balcony power plant complete system includes:
- 2x Longi Hi-Mo-6 430W Solar Module LR5-54HTH Black Frame
- 1x Hoymiles HMS-800W-2T Microinverter Module Inverter
- 1x 10m connection cable for Hoymiles HMS microinverter
Longi Hi-Mo-6 430W Solar Module LR5-Black Frame
The Longi LR5-54HTH-430M is a 430W solar module made with monocrystalline cells and belongs to the improved Hi-MO 6 product series. The HPBC cell technology uses a full-back welding technology, thereby increasing the resistance to microcracks.

Hoymiles HMS-800W-2T
The HMS-800W-2T (MPN: HMS-800W-2T) from Hoymiles is the perfect microinverter for your balcony power plant. In addition to an integrated WiFi module of industrial-grade quality, this compact lightweight (only 3.2kg) is excellent for solar power production with up to two solar panels, each with a power rating from 320 to 540+W. Like all other micro-inverters from Hoymiles, it is designed for long operating hours and wide PV module applications, as its startup voltage is very low (only 22V) and the DC input voltage range (16-60V) is extremely broad.
Features
- Integrated WiFi module
- Minimizes the effects of shading, dust, or aging through MPPT
- High-quality energy production with high MPPT accuracy
- Optimal system reliability
- Peak efficiency of 96.7%
- 12-year product warranty
- High safety with integrated protection features
- Easy installation
- Long lifespan
- Complies with VDE-AR-N 4105: 2018, EN 50549-1: 2019, VFR 2019, IEC/EN 62109-1/-2, IEC/EN 61000-6-1/-2/-3/-4, IEC/EN 61000-3-2/-3
Optimal Reliability
Micro-inverter systems are inherently more reliable than conventional inverters. The decentralized structure of a micro-inverter system ensures that if one component fails, it does not bring down the entire PV system. Hoymiles micro-inverters are designed for full output operation at ambient temperatures up to +65°C (150°F). The housing of the micro-inverter is suitable for outdoor installation and complies with IP67 protection class.

Balcony Power Plants in Germany
Currently, there is no law or regulation in Germany governing the production of solar power for purely self-consumption. The limit of a maximum of 600W AC PV output is a reserve value, which can be fed into an existing socket circuit of a house according to current VDE standards without overloading it. For independent circuits without additional load, nothing is specified. Every electrical installation should be carried out in compliance with VDE standards. However, operating a balcony power plant via a standard Schuko socket is not fundamentally prohibited. Notification to the Federal Network Agency is mandatory. However, there have been no known cases of fines for the non-notification of balcony power plants, nor insurmountable issues with network operators. Compliance with and implementation of standards and obligations is the responsibility of the system operator. Many technical and legal information can be found on relevant websites.
